  • Chapter II explains the theoretical foundations of reading, focusing on schema theory and its relevance to reading in EFL/ESL contexts.
  • Chapter III discusses strategies and models of reading comprehension, providing teachers and researchers with insights into effective reading practices.
  • Chapter IV explores schema activation in reading, students’ responses to literature, and the role of narrative texts in fostering intertextuality.
  • Chapter V presents the findings of classroom research conducted at Madrasah Aliyah An-Nur Tangkit, focusing on the process of schema activation, students’ reactions, and the significance of this strategy in improving engagement and comprehension.

Overall, this book not only addresses the theoretical underpinnings of reading but also highlights the pedagogical value of schema activation. It offers practical insights for teachers, researchers, and students who seek to deepen their understanding of how prior knowledge can be effectively connected with new texts to enhance comprehension and critical response.
